Listened to the whole thing, I’ve been a reasonably long time subscriber and I always appreciate seeing your emails pop up in my inbox, especially since they are infrequent. Infrequent but worth the wait because it’s clear your blood sweat and tears are in every publication. I write and compose music electronically quite a bit but I don’t really use loops very often. I do, however, use samplers. This makes your page a wonderful resource for *ahem* “organic” drum sounds. I also sample almost anything else I can get my hands on and do field recordings. As for the spiritual side of things, I help run a weekly semi-public jam night locally. We allow the use of any instrument, from drum/guitar/bass to synths and drum machines and everything in-between, and there is no skill barrier to entry. We have seasoned touring veterans playing with people who are touching their first set of claves or congas. There are no rules other than we don’t play covers, everything is about vibing off each other. We focus on improv and we call this, “going to church”. On a final note, I’m actually interested in what you consider backwoods Maine. I’m from MA but have lived in NH for the past 10+ years. My sister has a house in the Bridgeton area. I love it up there in the lakes and mountains. Anyway just wanted to contribute for the sake of saying thanks, and to assure you that your work does not go unnoticed.
Oh thanks amigo, you’re the first to take the comments plunge, you’re a warrior! I loved reading this. Cool idea on the jam night .. . “going to church” I love that. Funny, I live just up the road from Bridgton in Waterford, I grew up in Franconia.
This is thoughtful project, and I appreciate the training, planning and effort that went into making it. Music from a grounded place. I look forward to hearing more.
Music from a grounded place . . . I like that, and would agree – in the past I’ve been a part of many musical situations that were surface level . . . a part of being young too I guess. I appreciate your recognition, mucho gracias!
Amazing work! I just moved from the city to the woods and mountains to have nature closer to me. Also moved with my instruments and recording stuff. I found this earthloops very fresh, natural, inspiring, unique.
They have this sort of tribal feel which easily puts me in the mood for composing.
If I get something good out of it, I’ll share it with you.
Nelson, this is great to hear! We need more connection to nature, it’s our mother if you will. It always makes me happy to hear from people outside the US. Knowing that this stuff is getting into the hands of people around the globe is super exciting! Happy composing amigo!
Bill, you are a beautiful human being. Thank you for your existence, passion and dedication. The world needs more people like you. Emotion, spirituality, and overcoming the boundaries are injected into your works and are felt. God bless you! Congratulations on the new release and Happy New Year.
Ok, I believe I’m blushing :) Very kind of you, thanks! I think all the people of the world have this capacity, they’re just not showing it, but it’s inherent to all of us. Earth baby, earth!
Deve, I’m grateful that enjoyed this, that is certainly the aim . . . to foster enjoyment. Anything worth making typically involves effort, so why not? Thanks!
This was tight.
Been a fan for some time now. Appreciate all the work you put into this project as a whole. You’ve provided lots of inspiration for some of my own music.
Peace and Love.
Oh groovy. Well, the fandom is a circular energy and bounces off of me right back to you. Your comment here brings me joy, so I am therefore a fan of you. Cheers!
